William Varey (B. Juris., LLB (Hons.), MLM (Distn.), MAICD, AFAIM)
William founded the Forsyth Consulting Group in 1999 and is the architect of the group's corporate philosophy and structure. He is presently an Executive Director. With a background in law, he became a partner of a leading national law firm at age 29. For 10 years he designed and project managed complex mergers, acquisitions, equity raisings and corporate reconstructions in Australia and Asia. This experience allowed him to work with the management of over 1000 national and international companies. Being there at the critical points in their corporate life cycle, he helped those organisations make the jump to the next level. After completing many 'first time' transactions across many industries, he achieved that form of success and became more interested to know what makes a successful company, instead of just ensuring successfully completed deals. This led him to complete a Masters in Leadership and Management and a shift in business focus to finding a better approach to organisational development. In his work he applies leading edge theory to corporate practice, combining his knowledge of corporate strategy with the latest in the field of strategic management. Being both the philosopher and the pragmatist, he inquires as to the truth of the problem and then works with specialists to create practical and successful outcomes. He is motivated by helping organisations to succeed in what they are doing - continuously. He is a professional presenter, facilitator, business adviser and has written numerous articles on a wide range of business topics. William is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (MAICD), the Sustainable Business Network (SBN), an Associate Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management (AFAIM) and a member of the Association for Humanistic Psychology. His specialist expertise and experience is in strategy processes, analyzing business system dynamics, breakthrough thinking processes and dialogue theory. His personal goal is to complete a PhD into the impressive sounding specialist field of generative organisational learning dynamics (or more simply 'creating the learning organisation' ). He contributes to each of the four service groups of the Forsyth Consulting Group and manages the group's operations. He can be contacted directly at william@fcg.com.au.
